Roman's used herbs for many different purposes, they could be used to scent a house and make it smell fresh or put it in food to make it more tasteful. They're plenty of uses for herbs but a very important one is for medicinal purposes. The physicians of Rome used a wide range of plants to help heal the populace. They were used to help cure stomach aches, nausea, vomiting. Or when one was bed sick with a virus, herbs were used to help the victim fight it and boost their immune system. They're a lot of illnesses and sickness people had back then and people were always looking for cures to these alements, herbs was the ancient version of Advil or Aspirin, but natural and with less side affects. Also Herbs were great for healing wounds, espicially for soldier who were on the frontlines protecting and expanding Rome. When a soldiers was wounded doctors would apply the ingrediants from herbs to ease the pain, cleanse the wound and protect it from bacteria and help the wound heal faster.
